The three things to know about connecting your business with knowledge and information – Part Five

This is an article I’ve been working on drawn from client experiences and recent research into the areas of knowledge management leading to workforce integration and connected business strategy. Written for business leaders who are strategizing ways to leverage company knowledge, mitigate the risks of a retiring or transient workforce and build a more agile workplace this article discusses some key concepts to help with an approach.

I’ll break the article down into a multi-part posting… and I welcome your feedback…….

Change is Changing Again

How quickly things change.... I think Ronald Wright describes this phenomenon the best. In his book, a Short History of Progress, he talks about how technology has advanced the material progress of mankind. What I find fascinating is the pace of this change. Growing up I remember my family having the same kitchen oven for 16 years, in our household today we're already onto our second after only 5 years. When I think about my cell phone, car, sporting equipment etc....

Adopting new work patterns and practices that support business transformation

An area of focus for myself and others here at Avantage is working with organisations that are transforming or evolving their business model. Some are looking to expand their footprint into a new market or a product; others are divesting in order to concentrate on core competencies. A common thread between them is the recognised need to adopt new work patterns and practices in order to support the transformation taking place. However they are discovering that this adoption is a very hard thing to achieve.
